1. 12:00pm EST Lay -1.5 on 5-1 Vanderbilt at home vs 5-1 LSU. Yes I have heard it all; LSU QB Nussmeier should win the Heisman (he won’t), LSU defense is tremendous (yes it’s good), LSU can run (they can’t), etc. Truth is Vandy QB Pavia is way better (1409 yds 14 TD’s/4 Int’s) vs Nussmeier (1400 yds 9TD’s/5 Int’s). Vandy has better running game. Pavia has rushed for 352 yds himself more than any LSU player. Vandy is at home and that will matter. Lay the small number and enjoy the game.
2. 12:00pm EST Take +3.5 on 5-1 Washington at 4-2 Michigan. Yes there are 105,000 big Blue fans in the stands but the Huskies play in a big stadium (80,000) every week, big deal. Defense comparable both teams except Huskies are only allowing 83 yds per game on the ground, and when you have a lousy freshman QB like Underwood (1210 yds, 5 TD’s 2 Int’s) you need to run a lot. Williams the Husky QB has passed for 1628 yards and has 10 TD’s and 1 Int. Oh did I mention he runs; 382 yards and 4 touchdowns. Take the points and watch the Huskies win outright!
3. 12:00pm EST Take +1.5 on 4-2 U-Conn @ 1-5 Boston College. BC is not a bad team, they have had loses to MSU, & Cal by a few points. The issue here is that U-Conn is a pretty good team. Fagnano their QB has completed 67% of his passes for 1556 yds and has 11 TD’s and zero Int’s. Eagles QB has 1390 yds with 9 TD’s and 3 Int’s. The big difference is the Huskies run for almost 190 yds per game and control the clock. They also have a much better defense allowing 22ppg vs 33 for BC. Why BC is favored here is anyone’s guess. We will take the 1.5 gift and the win.
4. 12:45pm EST Lay -5.5 On 5-1 Oklahoma @ 3-3 South Carolina. Honestly the Sports Bookies are really off on a few games this week. This one at the top. The Sooners have a smothering defense allowing 9ppg (19 ppg SC), better passing yds, better rushing yds, better time of processions etc. The only concern is that the Gamecocks do have 8 Int’s so Mateer needs to be careful. Let’s lay the small number and collect some quick cash!
5. 3:30pm EST Take 28.5 (buy 1 pt) on 3-3 Michigan State 6-0 Indiana. Do I think the Hoosier’s will win, yes! Do I think they will score every time they touch the ball, no!. This is a cover play. This is a decent Big 10 School with a plan to score and try and win the game. The Hoosier’s are drinking their own cocktails after their win at Oregon. MSU scored 27 at Nebraska, and 31 at USC, and 42 vs BC. They can score. I can see a score something like 35-21. Will take 4 touchdowns plus to beat us. Take the points and the cover.
6. 7:30pm EST Take +10.5 on 5-1 USC @ 4-2 Notre Dame. The great thing about betting against teams like Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, and Michigan is they are always favored by too many points. The public loves to run the numbers up on these teams and Notre Dame is the team that is always bet up! Stat-wise this game is close, but somehow the broadcasters think Carr for ND ( 1622 yds, 13 TD’s/3 Int’s) I somehow way better than USC’s Maiava (1852 yds with 13 TD’s/ 2 Int’s). I don’t see it. Notre Dame has already lost to two top 20 teams this year, and USC is now ranked #20. Take the 10.5 and a close road cover.
7. 7:45pm EST Lay -1.5 on the 5-1 pissed off Missouri Tigers @ 3-3 Auburn. The Tigers lost a tough game last week against Bama 27-24 (we had Missouri +7) which they could have won. Auburn has played tough against Georgia (lost by 10), Texas AM (lost by 6), and OU (lost by 7). Those three teams are top 15, but they all were losses. Missouri is number #16 and they have a similar defense to Auburn but offensively no comparison. The Tigers average 511 yds per game vs 330 for the Tigers. Passing, Rushing, QB all much stronger. Like the rebound in game #7, lay the small number and the win!
